Five of the Top Free Antivirus Programs - MicroWorld Free AntiVirus Toolkit Utility

If you are looking for a lighter and easier piece of software, you might look at MicroWorld’s toolkit. As opposed to the first three suites, MicroWorld Free AntiVirus does not require any installation. All that you have to do to get it running is download it from the website and then start using it. A very big advantage of this is that you can stick the program on a CD or jump drive and run it on any computer just by using the CD or plugging the jump drive into the USB port. This can prove to be very useful for people like network administrators who have to tend to numerous computers quickly and do not have the luxury of installing software on each.

One good feature is that the database of infection definitions is almost constantly being updated, so you do not have to worry about falling behind in your scanning capabilities. You will always be right up to date on the latest threats to your computer.

As could be expected of such “light” software, the features are a little slim. Although you do get the full scanning capabilities for all types of malware like viruses and spyware, there are no “live” features. The software cannot continuously monitor your computer for new infections or scan through your e-mail.

One upside of the relative scarcity of features is that the layout is very easy to navigate. There is simply one screen from which you can access all of your features and options. Most users should have absolutely no difficultly getting to whatever they want within the program.
