Overall Rating
Support: Customer support at 1&1 is pretty solid. Their phone team is top notch and friendly and - most importantly, available 24/7. They also offer e-mail support as well, with a pretty quick response time the few times I tried it. Would like access to support by Chat - something they do not offer at the time of this review, but they do have a feature called Netviewer that lets a member of their support staff connect to you directly. I'll admit I have not used this feature yet, but it sounds pretty nifty.
Useability:
Pretty standard C-panel style interface with no real learning curve. One click install on apps is always a good thing for newer users. Overall a pretty intuitive design.
Price:
Prices were more than fair for the offerings. With the mid-level and premium package you get a free domain, which sweetens the pot a little (in reality, you only save a max of $12 because of this, but every bit counts).
Summary
I enjoyed the interface and useability of the hosting service. I never really had an issue with anything, but when I tested the support services, I was pleased with the results. During the testing period I experienced no downtime or page lag.
Overall I would recommend this company. Considering the 3-6 months free hosting you get tossed in and the money-back guarantee the company offers, you really can't go wrong.
