ePublishing Tools: Webhosting Content for Mobile Devices - Some prices
(Page 5 of 5 )
As with any project you take up, cost is of utmost importance. Acrobat is releasing versions very fast, so it’s best for you to get a quote from their website. If you’re a small publisher, maybe you’d prefer going for open source tools like Ghost Script because Adobe charges per PC license, and that’s expensive.
For Microsoft tools it’s all free because it’s distributed under a Free Software License. I have never tried writing to the Reader support, but I believe it’d be good.
Finally, for the Mobipocket and ReaderWorks tools the table below lists the prices. (Sources www.mobipocket.com and www.overdrive.com ).
| Title | Cost |
1. | Mobipocket Reader 4.8 Standard | Free |
2. | Mobipocket Reader 4.8 Pro | $19.95 |
3. | Mobipocket Creator 4.0 Home Edition | $29.95 |
4. | Mobipocket Publisher 3.0 Standard Edition | US$ 149 |
5. | ReaderWorks Standard | Free |
6. | ReaderWorks Publisher | $119.00 |
7. | ReaderWorks SDK | $2,000.00 |
So, based on the resources (Time and cost) you can easily have a publisher tool up and running, producing eBooks for you - even for free.
