Unless you intentionally look for Facebook news and trends on a regular basis, it can be difficult to keep up with the social network’s constant changes. Whether its design, privacy, or security, the folks behind the scenes at Facebook are always looking for ways to improve their social platform, or make it worse, depending on how you look at it. So, with all this in mind, how can you keep updated on all the changes that keep hitting your profile? This article will show you how, thanks to some Facebook groups that will keep you in the know.

This page is where you should begin in your quest to stay up to date on Facebook.  It’s the official Facebook page, and it gives you new information as it rolls out on stories concerning the social network, as well as new products and any other noteworthy announcements.

The amount of features on the official Facebook page is quite large.  There’s a resource section with links to the Help Center, as well as information for those who want to work for or advertise on Facebook.  You can access Facebook Live, the official live streaming channel, through here as well.  You can take a peek at bios on Facebook executives, see statistics, and read any press releases that have made the rounds.  You can also view the interesting Memology section, which shows what has been trending on Facebook in the recent past.  For instance, you can see the most discussed topics around the world, the top status trends, the most liked TV shows and celebrities, and much more.  The official Facebook page may not give you as much technical information as some of the others in this list, but it is a good place to go when you are looking for an overall view of what’s happening on the site.

    Facebook and Privacy

There’s little doubt that privacy is a huge issue with Facebook.  By posting so much information about yourself on the web, you could leave the door open to some unfavorable consequences.  Luckily, Facebook has tweaked its site to offer plenty of control over what you share and who gets to see it.  If you are somewhat inexperienced with Facebook and are not too good at navigating the site, however, controlling your privacy settings could be a real pain.  By liking the Facebook and Privacy page, you get in-depth information on the options available to you as well as news on any changes that take place within the social network.

The Facebook and Privacy page is a perfect place to get all of your updated Facebook privacy details. There are occasional news posts discussing changes, as well as opinion pieces on the importance of privacy in the digital age.  The page holds a ton of information in the form of guides and videos to really help you get a true understanding of how privacy works on Facebook.

    Facebook Security

Just as its name suggests, the Facebook Security page tells you all you need to know about how to stay safe on Facebook.  Think of it as a one-stop shop for all of your security needs on the social network.  By simply liking the page, you can get updated information on a wide variety of security news and tweaks.

The Facebook Security page is divided into several sections that are easy to navigate and understand.  The Threats section contains information on the different types of attacks and scams that often plague not only Facebook users, but internet users in general, so it’s information worth reading.  There’s explanation on spam attacks like phishing and clickjacking, as well as money transfer scams and fake emails.  Several Facebook myths are also debunked, such as whether or not you can see when others view your personal profile.  A few safety tips are also thrown in for good measure.

Another section worth mentioning is the page’s direct link to the Facebook Security Blog, which contains articles from security experts.  The White Hats section leads to information for security researchers and a place to report actual vulnerabilities, as well as manage test accounts.  The Tips section offers tips for Facebook navigation and general internet navigation.  Many basic tips are included here, such as to avoid clicking on suspicious links or attachments, but they are good as a refresher course and can help beginners.  There’s a security quiz to test your safe browsing knowledge too.  Last, but not least, is the Take Action section.  This is where you want to go if you have a problem with your account.  If you think you or your friend’s account has been hacked, or you are having spamming or scamming issues, the Take Action section can help.
