Choosing a Web Host for Your WordPress Blog - How to Check the Availability of A Domain Name

Checking on the availability of a domain name is pretty simple. Just follow these steps:

    1. Get your list of possible domain names.

    2. Open your web browser.

    3. Make your way to whois.com.

    4. Fill in the desired URL next to the whois lookup.

    5. Click on "Go."

Now that you have a choice of domains, or just one, you can go ahead and get set up. If you did not find one, then you can go ahead and start the process again with your second tier choices. Eventually, you will find a name that is open.

    What About Buying a Name?

Names can be bought from a broker, or directly from a domain owner. This is a slippery business. You need to seek out some experienced help in order to do this. Try to give it as much time as possible, and be sure that you want to do this.
