The Top 10 Web Hosting Companies in the U.S. - Nine through Six
(Page 2 of 4 )
#9 – Parked.com
Parked.com takes up a little more of the market than DreamHost.com with a humble 1.22%. Unfortunately, Parked.com is not a true website host; it is merely a way to “park” your domain name and send visitors to it. There will be advertisements on the parked domain name, and you will receive commissions for any visits.
#8 – BuyDomains.com
BuyDomains.com features 1.31% of the market, but again, does not offer true web hosting services. However, the website is excellent if you are looking to purchase a “premium” domain name. Its system keeps track of all of the available domain names and provides you with a purchasing price for just about any name you could want. If you are not willing to sacrifice the quality of your domain name just because you cannot find one that is available, you should take a look here to see if there is a good one for sale.
#7 – DSRedirection.com
DSRedirection.com (market share: 2.43%) is not a company in and of itself, but is instead run by OverSee.net. OverSee.net, unfortunately, is not truly a web hosting company. Although you could get your website hosted by OverSee.net, it would only be as a part of a full online advertising package. If you are looking to seriously branch into the online world and land with a splash, take a look at OverSee.net and see if has what you are looking for.
#6 – Register.com
Register.com is a fairly large (and legitimate) web host with 2.47% of the total market share. However, I cannot find any justification for the size of their market share except for the fact that their website name is very easy to find and remember.
The “essential” package—which is really only good for a basic online presence—starts at $6.95/month with a three-year subscription. If you choose the one year option, you’re paying $8.95/month. If you find that you need a little more out of your web host, you could be paying up to $44.95/month on a monthly “Premium” plan. I have actually seen full servers that you could rent out for less than that.
If you are looking for something quick and simple and really do not care about your money, consider Register.com. If not, look anywhere else.
