    Slamdot.com: Making the Web Friendlier

If you’re not technologically inclined but want to create your own web presence, you have several options. You can set up a site with tools and templates that don’t require you to learn HTML – and depending on whom you set your site up with, you may be forced to use a sub domain. Or you can take a different route.

If you want a professional-looking web site, whether you're a blogger or a small- to medium-sized business, you probably want your own domain. And in that case, you'll want to work with a web host who understands your problems and offers intuitive tools. That's where Slamdot comes in.

Slamdot recently launched a new control panel that it built based on web 2.0 technologies. Designed with user-friendliness in mind, the panel integrates billing, support, hosting and domain name management into a single AJAX-based tool. Best of all, you only need one username and password to access all of its features.

"Slamdot is all about integration and ease of use," explained Sean Christman, CEO of Slamdot. "We set out to build our own ideal hosting environment to address the problems that we personally had experienced with other Web hosting companies. We then invited users to try our approach, and the response has been absolutely phenomenal. Our aim is to make Web hosting management easier and more likable, without forfeiting features, performance, or reliability."

The web hosting plans that Slamdot offers reflect their target market of bloggers, web designers, and small- to medium-sized businesses. They start at $11 per month for 1,000 MB of disk space, 25 GB of monthly data transfer, and the ability to host up to three web sites. If that's not quite enough for you, there are two other plans. The Business Basic features 2,500 MB of disk space, 50 GB of monthly data transfer, and the ability to host up to 10 web sites from one account for $25 per month. The Business Pro gets you 5,000 MB of disk space, 100 GB of bandwidth, and the ability to host up to 25 web sites from one account for a pretty reasonable $40 per month.

One huge plus is that all of Slamdot's plans include nightly data backups, MySQL databases, and Subversion access. In keeping with the idea of ease of use, a single Slamdot account can be used to manage multiple plans. That's just the beginning; the company offers an amazing number of features with all of their plans.
